Finished Quilt Parade

In my version of a binding blitz, I have finished several quits since the beginning of the year, and I have not posted about them thinking I would do a Friday post. Since I have nothing new completed on any quilts in progress, and since that Friday post never seems to happen, I thought I would create that post now.

First is the Sister’s Choice quilt which was the first finish of 2017. It is a Bonnie Hunter pattern and can be found here for free.

Next up are a couple of baby quilts made using the same pattern out of a Project Linus book called Quilt it with Love.

Here is another baby quilt made with Mary Johnson’s free Strippie quilt pattern found here.

Last up is a lap size quilt called Fourth of July by Bonnie Hunter. The free pattern can be found here.

Stash Report 3/5/17

It is a rainy Sunday here today, but I will take that any day over cold weather 🙂 I have slowly been working my way back into the sewing room as I get a little less tired. It is a very slow process and I am impatiently waiting for me to feel like I did a few months ago.

There was a little movement in stash this week, I cut out a binding for a quilt.

Fabric out last week .56
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 14.65 yards
Fabric in ytd: 0 yards
Total 14.65 yards out

There was no slow stitching going on, I have not found another cross stitch that I wanted to make and I have been sewing my bindings on by machine for the time being.

Check out the other stash reports over at Patchworktimes.

Happy Quilting!
Blessings

Slow Stitching and Stash Report

Again for the past several weeks, there has been more slow stitching than sewing going on so the stash report is easy.

Fabric out last week 0
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 14.09 yards
Fabric in ytd: 0 yards
Total 14.09 yards out

On the Slow stitching front, I finished the cross stitch piece that I was working on, please pardon the wrinkles, it has not been cleaned or pressed. It is more colorful in person, but not a whole lot.

I have been having some health issues lately and I wanted to share because it is something that I have not heard of other having although I would imagine it is quite prevalent. I have a very large vitamin D deficiency, even though I drank milk and ate other items that are fortified with vitamin D. The side effects of this deficiency are tiredness along with a myriad of other symptoms, so if you are so tired you have no energy to do anything but sleep when you get off work, you might have your doctor check into your vitamin D level. I had the double whammy of having my thyroid go completely out of whack during the same time and a whole bunch of the symptoms are the same for both.

I hope you have a very blessed week and I hope to be blogging on a more regular basis since I have started the medicines to put me on the road to wellness (and myself).

Progress Last Week

I make some progress last week on my quilt along with my stitching, so it was a win/win week for me. At the beginning of the week I had five blocks completed on the En Provence Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter. By Sunday night, I had five more blocks finished so that leaves me with six blocks left to stitch and a whole bunch of sashing strips. I also have the feeling that I will have to make more blocks before I am finished with this top.

I have enough of the sashing finished to be able to lay it out and get a glimpse of how the quilt is going to look when it is finished and I think I am going to like it. I hope the borders temper the purple some, and I think it will since it is all neutrals.

Stash and Stitching 2-12-17

I thought I had figured out the problem with my email and had gotten it working again, but I still am not getting comments. If you use WordPress, do not mark a comment as spam, even if it is spam. It seems that all comments start going to spam from that point on and they do not get forwarded as they should. I am working to solve the problem, and I appreciate all of your patience as I work through my email going again.

I am still plugging away on En Provence and getting further along every day. If I were to push and dedicate a week or so to sewing, I could probably have this together by next week. Maybe I will set that as a goal for myself so I can get this finished and off of my table. At this point I have five of the sixteen initial blocks together and I am making the sashing as a leader ender for the blocks. I have five more blocks that are close to being finished, I work in groups of five blocks and have most of the second group together. I have gone back and started pressing my hourglass and tri-rec blocks again using a spray bottle of water and heat. They were not laying down flat and when joining the blocks they were not going together good.

Here are my numbers, they have not changed.

Fabric out last week 0
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 14.09 yards
Fabric in ytd: 0 yards
Total 14.09 yards out

My slow stitching is moving along well and I have enjoyed picking cross stitch up again. This makes me remember why I liked doing this in the first place. I have been doing some of this every night and if I had spend the time sewing on my quilt that I have spent on this, the quilt top would have been finished by now 🙂 Here is what my stitching looked like last week20170206_071014_resized.jpg

and here is what it looks like now

More Slow Stitching then De-Stashing Week

I want to apologize if you have sent me a comment and I have not responded. Google is eating my comments and I have not figured out how to fix it yet. I read and appreciate your comments and greatly thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my blog.

This week and probably last week I spent more time doing cross stitch than sewing and quilting. I am in the process of binding the pile of quits that I quilted at the end of last year. I have three bound and are in need of pictures, I have the binding sewn on two more and when those are finished, that will put me at the half way point of getting them all bound. I will have a lot of quilts finished the first part of this year, but that is not why I did all of the quilting at once. I seem to work better if I do one thing until completion so I feel like I have accomplished something when I am finished, so I tried to quilt most of the quilts I had that needed quilting, then I could feel mostly caught up with quilting. Now I am working on getting the binding finished, that will be a big woo-hoo moment! In between binding, I have been slowly working on En Provence.

Edited to add the stash report:

Fabric out last week .50
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 14.09 yards
Fabric in ytd: 0 yards
Total 14.09 yards out

For the most part this week, I have been working this though,

20170129_073422_resized.jpg

it is coming along nicely and I will be happy to see to completed. It is probably a 10 year project that I had put up and figured that I would never finish. Thanks to a friend at a weekly stitching get together, I decided to get it out and get the progress further along. I hope that you are taking some time to do some Slow Stitching today, it is such a relaxing thing to do.

Piles in Need of Pressing

First I want to apologize to anyone who has left me a comment and I did not respond. My forwarding from WordPress to my email quit working and I had not realized that it was not working correctly. I will try to get the problem resolved quickly and get the emails answered. I am sorry that it took me so long to see it was not working correctly.

Piles in need of pressing and piles in need of binding, that is what I have going on today. I managed to get the binding completely finished on one small quilt over the weekend, and binding sewn onto the quilt on a second small quilt, but not turned and sewn down. In addition the binding, I needed to get these piles for En Provence pressed, but life got in the way.

Stash and Slow Stitching Sunday

I have spent the week working on the En Provence mystery quilt and I have enough parts to start putting the pieces together, but I am trying to get all of my parts completed so I can put up the fabric. I am closer than I was a couple of weeks ago, I have most of the halves of the quarter square triangles made 🙂

In addition to working on En Provence, I have been working on squaring and sewing bindings onto some of the quilts that I got quilted over my Christmas break. I ended up quilting 9 quilts and giving 2 to Missy for her to quilt. I have 10 ready for binding and I finished the binding on 1 and part of another.I have squared 5 of the 9 quilts and should be able to get those completed in the next couple of days. I am no longer caught up with my quilting, I received one from a member of Quilts of Love that is ready for quilting. I need to go ahead and get a backing found and get it loaded.

On to the stash report:

Fabric out last two weeks 5.33
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 13.59 yards
Fabric in ytd: 0 yards
Total 13.59 yards out

I started working again on a cross-stitch pattern that I started years ago, I used to cross-stitch a lot before I started quilting. When I first started, I had just a small line of the white completed when I picked it up again, here is where I am now. I am making the picture on the cover of the book.

I am working on this in the evenings while watching tv and sitting with an ice pack on my hip. I have bursitis and it has reared its nasty head and I am trying to head it off at the pass.

Monday Happenings

Well I had nothing to show for what I had been doing until I sewed on it today. Today I sewed quarter square triangles and now I actually have some of the pieces made so that I can lay out a block of En Provence to see what it is going to look like when it is all together.

20170116_175512_resized.jpg

I changed yellows after seeing the completed block, I went from a dark gold to a muted yellow, and I still was not sure if I liked it with the yellow. After seeing it with the yellow, I decided to lay some of the completed four patches in the spot where the yellow went and see what it looked like too. Here is that result.

20170116_175721_resized.jpg

It looks a little washed out compared to the yellow, maybe I should lay the gold out too to see what it looks like in the block. Anyway that is where I stand with this block, but at least I have enough parts sewn so that I can play with the block and make it my own.

UFO Progress 1/11/17

The last week has been spent cranking out as many quilts as I could through the quilting machine so I could get caught up with the quilts that were waiting for quilting. With a concentrated effort over the last few weeks, I managed to get 9 quilts through the machine and they are now waiting on binding. That will be on my to do list for the next few weeks.

20170109_171614-01_resized.jpeg

The quilt with the purple center star has been waiting a very long time to get it’s turn at the quilting machine.20170109_155356-01_resized.jpeg

I really like the fabric in this quilt, it was a gift from a friend for our charity.

20170109_155426-01_resized.jpeg

In between cranking out quilts, I continued to work on Bonnie Hunter’s En Provence quilt so it does not get left behind and become a UFO. I have all of the tri-rec triangles finished in the purple and magenta, I have about half of the 4 patches in purple completed and all of the half-square triangles completed. I still need all of the quarter square triangles and the neutral 4 patches.

20170109_155459-01_resized.jpeg

That is what I have been up to lately. To see what others have been up to go to Jo’s Country Junction.

Happy quilting!
