In My Studio 6-27-16

Good morning, this is a short post to show what I have been working on this past week. There was a little movement on the quilting front. I finished quilting this quilt on Friday evening. I had a great time quilting it, I did freehand loops, butterflies, hearts and flowers with a few ribbons tossed in for good measure. It is amazing what you can get done when you are home alone and only have to worry about yourself.

Stash Report 6-26-16

Well I have not reported a stash update for a few weeks. There has been some sewing going on so I have had a little outage for the past three weeks. A big portion of the fabric has been backings for my flimsys.

I am still moving forward on the quilting front. I have had time after I get off work to get some quilting done, but my weekends have been taken up by other things. I had another wedding to go to yesterday. Last week, I made a quilt top, quilted it and made the binding. I will show it in tomorrows post.

On to the report, I loaded another quilt on the frame so that was a good amount out.

Fabric out  5.125 yards (2.25 week of 6/12; .75 week of 6/19 and 2.125 this past week)
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 29.175 yards
Fabric in ytd: 20.0 yards
Total 9.175 yards out

I did not cave and buy more fabric. I was happy about that and I am gradually going up on the black side.

I continue to strive to do what Kate does, trying to get in at least 15 minutes of stitching every day. I have not managed to get 15 minutes a day, but I have managed to make up for the missed days on other days of the week so I still have the average going. I did not manage to keep up with the number of days.

And Then There Were Three

Work is slowly progressing on the nine patch quilt which has now been turned into a Sister’s Choice block. I wanted to use some of my oldies but goodies left over nine patches, but did not have enough of each fabric to make more two color nine patches. So, I decided to see what I could come up with to make the block bigger and to make use of some of the smaller pieces of the oldie hits. Well you add to that the fact that I have wanted to make a Sister’s Choice quilt for a while now, and you have my revamped project. The pieces are slowly coming together to make blocks.

I have also been quilting on the pink butterfly quilt and the quilting was finished yesterday. I will be happy to have this finished and gifted to the recipients. It has been way too long. I was looking at my camera roll yesterday and I can’t believe the length of time that has passed since I started on the project of making two quilts. I guess sometimes life gets in the way and you just do the best you can (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it :))

I hope you have a great weekend!

What I am Working On

Well I have had a little forward progress on the quilt front. I quilted a quilt yesterday afternoon, so I have another to add to the binding pile. It has been on the machine for a couple of weeks while I was trying to decide what I wanted to quilt on it. I finally decided done is better than having quilts back up on me while I try to decide what to quilt. So here it is and the quilting turned out just fine, it is a stipple.

I finished the flimsy for the second girl and got that quilt loaded on the machine this afternoon. In order to get this quilt loaded, I had to quilt the quilt above. Nothing like some added pressure to get things moving along 🙂

I hope to have this quilted and bound by Thursday. This week is Vacation Bible School at our church and I volunteered for Thursday night. Sorry the picture is off in color, but the picture was taken at night.

June has been a very busy month and it is only going to get more so. I have either had company or I have been gone every weekend for the last four or five weeks. It looks like that is going to continue for another couple of weeks. My youngest nephew is getting married on Saturday. I hope you have a good week.

In My Quilting Room 6-13-16

Good morning! I had a little movement in my quilting area this past week which makes me very happy. I started working on a new quilt for a little girl in our church. I know that I had a plan and was going to finish some of the quilts that I already had in progress, but I was having a real difficult time working on them and this one needed to be done. I hope to finish the top this evening and quilt it in the next day or so. The reason, there were two little who were not being taken care of by their parents, so they came to live with a couple in our church. I meant to give them quilts a long time ago, but then life got in the way. So now it is time to get those quilts finished and to the recipients. One is finished, just need this second one done. After that back to “The Plan”. 🙂

Here is a sneak peek at the quilt in progress.

And here is a look at the quilt that is finished. They are going into the same room so I was trying to keep the color scheme close. I pray that these quilts will bless the family and let the girls know how happy we are to have them as part of our family.
