Design Table Monday 8/31/15

Wow, August is over! I hope you had a wonderful start to your week. DH and DS are both on the road so I am bacheloretting it this week.

Today was fast and furious at work, but not frenzied. I can deal with that. I am in the process of making borders for my Carpenter’s Star quilt. I hope to get the borders finished this week.

I also loaded 2 more quilts on the frames to be quilted. I hope to get several quilted before I have to take down the machine for the move. See the great design walls over at Patchworktimes.

Happy quilting, Blessings!

Fabric Happenings 8/30/15

Time keeps flying by faster than I can keep up. The new students are in class and I hope settled. There is such a frenzy this time of the year and it seems like it gets worse from our perspective every year. All I have been doing when I come home is vegging, hopefully next week will a much smoother work week. What I am looking forward to is the holiday weekend.

Carpenter's Star awaiting borders

Carpenter’s Star awaiting borders

A little progress was made Friday and Saturday on the Carpenter’s Star quilt and it is now together and waiting on borders. I cut them out yesterday and that is what accounts for my outage today. I also managed to get the quilts I had loaded on the quilt machine quilted yesterday. They were small so it did not talk very long. I have some binding in my future, I am trying to get several quilted so that when we move, I will have some hand stitching at night if everything else is unavailable.

Fabric Happenings August 23, 2015

Good morning! We are in the middle of a thunderstorm here and it is pouring as I write this. This week has been crazy busy with company and work, but there was an ever so small amount of fabric movement due to working on the quilt the first part of the week.

I did manage to get the cheerleader top to the flimsy stage and make some progress on the Carpenter’s Star quilt. I had every intention of posting the cheerleader flimsy on Design Wall Monday, but I didn’t get it done before I went to work and was too wiped out after work. So here it is, it is a Quilts for Kids pattern which has been enlarged.

Cheerleader Quilt

Here are my numbers, they are for the binding strips for the cheerleader quilt which has been joined, pressed and rolled so that it is ready to be sewn on when the quilt is quilted. I also had to cut an additional strip for the Carpenter’s Star quilt because I think I lost a couple of finished half square triangles, which of course, I will find now that they have been replaced.

Fabric out week 0.64 yards
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 81.74 yards
Fabric in ytd: 27.5 yards
Total 54.24 yards out

See Patchworktimes for additional stash reports.

If you commented last week, I apologize for not replying, but I hope to get those answered this afternoon. I tried answering one comment and made such a mess of what I was trying to say that I decided I just needed to keep my mouth shut so I didn’t say something more stupid than what I had already said. My brain does not function well after long stressful days.

Thanks for visiting and happy quilting!

Fabric Happenings

Good morning! I hope your day is going well. Yesterday was a mishmash of working on a multitude of things. I was looking for a couple of small quilts that were the same size so I could load them and quilt them at the same time. Well in doing that, I got totally distracted with working on some of the quilts that needed just a little to be ready to quilt. I did a repair and press on this one. It was windy out today.

I pressed a binding that I have had made for several months. The quilt has not been quilted, but now when it is, the binding is ready to go onto the quilt.

I got a couple of quilts on the machine and they are ready for quilting, I cannot count the backing because it was supplied. I also added borders to this quilt and it is now ready to be loaded and quilted.

Baby Quilt

Last I also added half of the second border on the cheerleader quilt, and it should be finished this afternoon. I had to cut another strip for the last border strip before I could finish it.  So, even though I jumped all over the place yesterday, I did get some progress made.

Here are my numbers for one border strip for the cheerleader quilt and the borders for the baby quilt.

Fabric out week 0.83 yards
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 81.10 yards
Fabric in ytd: 27.5 yards
Total 53.60 yards out

Cheerleader Quilt Ready For Borders

Well I came home yesterday and ignored everything (well not my DH), and started working on sewing the Cheerleader Quilt together. We were fed well during lunch and so I was not hungry when I got home so I was able to sew for a good while. The quilt is going to end up being about 50″ by 60″. I think that will be a good size for a 4yo.

We have two more days of training for our student workers, then the freshmen move in next Tuesday. I do not know how it works at other colleges, but the freshmen move in ahead of the other then they go on an orientation trip for about four days. It is suppose to give them time to meet and get to know each other before being thrown into the stress of being in a new environment, and hopefully it gives them a peer support system. The following week, the upper class-men move in. Hopefully after that, everything will start to return to normal at work.

Have a Blessed week!

Design Wall Monday 8-10-15

Got some stitching done yesterday and almost got this top to where it is ready for borders. Probably will not get much stitching time today, I will have my parents coming shortly after I get off work. Here is where I am so far on the cheerleader quilt.
