In My Sewing Room

I quilted my Nephew’s quilt Saturday. My mother raided my stash of 5″ squares to create this quilt. This was made without making nine patches, but 5″ and 2.5″ pieces. She also used one fabric for all of the connecting squares, I think it turned out very pretty. My brother was down and I decided to get it quilted so he could take it back to my mother for binding. It was quilted with baptist fan’s.

I also got the first border on my Sister’s Choice quilt and have the second one cut out. After that it will be around 74″ and will be ready for quilting.

Stash and Slow Stitching

I have not made any more progress on sewing on borders, but I have made some progress on this.

On the stash front, I used a little for the borders on my Sister’s Choice quilt and I happened to click on Missouri Star and bought a jelly roll. I am still in the red.

I am keeping up with my days of doing something quilty in the  sewing room along with Kate. Days with 15 minutes of sewing time this week: 9 out of 14 days, on many of those days, I spent several hours in the quilting room. Several of those days have been spent quilting the quilt I picked out and my nephew’s wedding quilt.

A Little Progress

There has not been a whole lot of piecing going on lately. There has been some straightening and putting away of stuff. There have been a couple of bindings sewn on ready for hand stitching and this

Has become this

Ready for borders

Ready for borders

The first border cut and ready to be pieced together. The last border has been picked out but I have not decided how big to make the border.

This quilt is under Bonnie Hunter’s free pattern tab and she calls it a Sister’s Choice.

I am linking with Joscountryjunction UFO challange. I am a day late, but hopefully that will be alright.

Happy Quilting and as always, may blessings be bestowed on you and your family.

In My Quilting Room 8/7/16

Last week was spent removing all of my quilting from a quilt and quilting it again. After finishing that, I decided to take a break and read a book, I enjoyed it very much. Today I am starting the process of setting the Sister’s Choice blocks together. I am basing the blocks on the design by Bonnie Hunter located here. Cutting the setting blocks will be good for my stash report next week because I am using 19″ blocks and then quartering them for the side triangles, but one strip yielded all of these triangles, so not as much is being used as I hoped.

I have already gotten started sewing and it is going quickly, it will not take long to sew this together because it is not a queen size quilt like I normally make.

Fabric Happenings 8-7-16

All last week was spent having quality time with my seam ripper, rather than having quilty time. It was quilt a bummer, but Friday I finished ripping and Saturday I finished quilting the quilt again and my mother whisked it off and put it in her car in a hurry so I didn’t even get a picture of it. Today I hope to spend some quilty time with my sewing machine 🙂

Since I did not get a picture of my mother’s quilt, I thought I would show a quilt that I picked up at a flea market. I am not sure that I have seen this design before. Does anyone know what this design is called when it is made in this fashion? Snowballs & Canoe’s maybe?
