Progress Last Week

I make some progress last week on my quilt along with my stitching, so it was a win/win week for me. At the beginning of the week I had five blocks completed on the En Provence Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter. By Sunday night, I had five more blocks finished so that leaves me with six blocks left to stitch and a whole bunch of sashing strips. I also have the feeling that I will have to make more blocks before I am finished with this top.

I have enough of the sashing finished to be able to lay it out and get a glimpse of how the quilt is going to look when it is finished and I think I am going to like it. I hope the borders temper the purple some, and I think it will since it is all neutrals.

Piles in Need of Pressing

First I want to apologize to anyone who has left me a comment and I did not respond. My forwarding from WordPress to my email quit working and I had not realized that it was not working correctly. I will try to get the problem resolved quickly and get the emails answered. I am sorry that it took me so long to see it was not working correctly.

Piles in need of pressing and piles in need of binding, that is what I have going on today. I managed to get the binding completely finished on one small quilt over the weekend, and binding sewn onto the quilt on a second small quilt, but not turned and sewn down. In addition the binding, I needed to get these piles for En Provence pressed, but life got in the way.

Monday Happenings

Well I had nothing to show for what I had been doing until I sewed on it today. Today I sewed quarter square triangles and now I actually have some of the pieces made so that I can lay out a block of En Provence to see what it is going to look like when it is all together.

I changed yellows after seeing the completed block, I went from a dark gold to a muted yellow, and I still was not sure if I liked it with the yellow. After seeing it with the yellow, I decided to lay some of the completed four patches in the spot where the yellow went and see what it looked like too. Here is that result.

It looks a little washed out compared to the yellow, maybe I should lay the gold out too to see what it looks like in the block. Anyway that is where I stand with this block, but at least I have enough parts sewn so that I can play with the block and make it my own.

What’s Up Monday

Happy New Year everyone, I hope you had a great holiday season! I have been working on my list of items that I wanted to complete before I went back to work. Those days are quickly going away and I probably will not get much more of the list done, but I am going to keep working until I start back to work.

I have some blocks ready to send to Dar

I have the Fourth of July quilt ready for borders then quilting.

Fourth of July before borders.jpeg

I have managed to quilt 4 quilts, waiting on 4th of July. Not the best of prioritizing the quilting, but that is okay, there is a recipient for this quilt so I need to get it finished. I have not caught up on the mystery, I have not even started the quarter square triangles yet. I will continue working on this, but it will probably progress slowly. I need to get some quilts cut out for Quilts Of Love and bind quilts, but overall I have made good progress.

What’s Happening 12-26-16

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a Merry Christmas yesterday. I know that this is a hard time for some people, and for you, I hope the Peace of Jesus Christ will come over you and make it an easier time for you.

I am slowly making progress toward my goals of getting quilts quilted and I am still slowly working on Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt En Provence. I have managed to get to the halfway point on all of the clues except for the first clue, which I have intentionally not worked on, and the one that came out Friday, which I have not started yet.

Here are some pictures of what is going on in my sewing room.

Here is my lone star that I put together while playing. At this point, I did not have enough of the purple triangles to make the complete square, nor did I have any other pink triangles to balance the star out so I called it my Rogue Warrior.

And last but definitely not least, my reminder to myself to line up the bottom of the triangle. I cut these with the Accuquilt go die and they seem to work best when they are lined up at the bottom of the triangle. I hated making these for so long because they would never come out right. My seam allowance was correct, but for some reason they would come out wrong. I now know that I part of the problem was that I was lining up by the top, rather than the bottom of the triangle.

Design Floor Monday

It was a busy weekend, but I did make a little progress on getting Cathedral Stars laid with the setting triangles. I even commenced onto sewing them together. I took several pictures of the top laid out so that I might even get it back together how it was laid out, lol.

The lower left is partially sewn together, but that is all that I managed. Today I did a little shopping preparing for DS’s birthday which happens to fall on Thanksgiving this year. I have one more day of work then I am off until Monday so there might possibly be a chance of getting it together before Thanksgiving, but it is not looking very likely.

I cut backing for a couple of quilts over the weekend, so I will have outage to show for next week’s Stash Report. Hopefully by then, I will have a couple of quilts quilted before I go back to work on Monday too.

My sewing last week took backseat to reading, but sometimes you just have to read. I think I read four books in the last week so I failed miserably at Kate’s 15 minutes challenge but I made up for it over the weekend.

Design Wall Monday 10-24-16

I began working on some QOV blocks and this is what is on my design table today. I got some half square triangles made and I am in the process of cutting the strips and then it should be a quick sew. I am sending these to Dar at Dar’s Patchwork Garden. I think while I am at it, I will make some more and send to Alycia at Alycia Quilts. If you have some free time and want a quick quilt fix, hop over to one of these two sites and make them some blocks.
