Cathedral Stars is a Flimsy

I managed to get some quality sewing time over the Thanksgiving holiday and managed to get Cathedral Stars to the flimsy stage. I still need to figure out borders, but it is going to rest for a little while.

I said I would participate in a holiday bazaar so I am prepping for that. It is Tuesday and I have a lot of work to do. I know that I have one more Bonnie flimsy and I will use that for the leader ender of the mystery quilt that is going on right now. I will have to wait to start until after Tuesday, then it should be clear sailing on working on the mystery quilt after that. I am hooking up with Jo’s Country Junction where we are working on completing those Bonnie Hunter ufo’s.

Happy Quilting!

Cathedral Stars Coming Together

I am posting late so just a quick pop in to update my progress. I am just about to make it to the finish line getting the interior of Cathedral Stars completed. Here is where I am at the moment, I am so excited that it is almost finished!

I have no idea what I am going to do for borders at this point, I think I am thinking about a very narrow neutral and then maybe a pieced scrappy border of brights. I will have to lay it out and see how it looks and see if I like it. I am glad that I carried on with this quilt even though I was not sure that I was going to like it. The brown helps to contain the brights and gives the eye a place to rest.

I managed to get 15 minutes or more 6 out of 7 days this week.

Fabric Management Report 11-27-16

I hope everyone in the US had a great Thanksgiving, I was planning on a post that day but we ended up going to my mother’s house on Wednesday afternoon rather than Thursday. After getting there, the day was filled with cooking and visiting with family.

I managed to get some sewing done this week, but not as much as I had hoped, Cathedral Stars is still not together, but it is getting closer.

I managed to get a little stash movement last week thanks to cutting a backing for 2 quilts that I will load on the machine at the same time. I had planned on having it loaded already, the top is ready. I also cut the setting triangles for the Cathedral Stars quilt and part of a Carpenter’s Star quilt for Quilts of Love.

Here is my stash report, I thought I was linking with Patchworktimes, but she did not post.

Fabric out last two weeks 6.076 yards
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 65.726 yards
Fabric in ytd: 51.07 yards
Total  14.656 yards out

I hope you have a quilty week!

UFO Update 11-22-16

I managed to get some sewing in the last few days and it has really showed. Saturday I just had the setting pieces cut out, but now I have two of the corners stitched together. I decided I would do the four corners and then do the inside just like it was a square quilt. That way I don’t have to sew two long pieces together. I do not like handling large pieces or sewing long seams. It is a challenge to me to figure out how to put the quilt together sewing the shortest seams until I get to the last seam of the quilt. It doesn’t take much to entertain me 🙂 The picture below shows how I am setting it together.

This is where I am at so far, I don’t think I am going to get this finished before Bonnie Hunter’s new mystery starts. I think I will work on that as my leader ender while I finish this quilt. I have made great progress finishing up my Bonnie Hunter quilts during this challenge and I want to thank Jo for hosting the challenge. The strip twist quilt was given away last Sunday to a person who was in great pain caused from bulging disk in his back. The pain was so severe that he is in a wheelchair right now.

Today I have to bake a cake for a birthday and I think I am going to bake some cookies for Thanksgiving also so I guess I better get to it. I am linking up with Jo’s Country Junctions’ Bonnie Hunter UFO challenge.

Design Floor Monday

It was a busy weekend, but I did make a little progress on getting Cathedral Stars laid with the setting triangles. I even commenced onto sewing them together. I took several pictures of the top laid out so that I might even get it back together how it was laid out, lol.

The lower left is partially sewn together, but that is all that I managed. Today I did a little shopping preparing for DS’s birthday which happens to fall on Thanksgiving this year. I have one more day of work then I am off until Monday so there might possibly be a chance of getting it together before Thanksgiving, but it is not looking very likely.

I cut backing for a couple of quilts over the weekend, so I will have outage to show for next week’s Stash Report. Hopefully by then, I will have a couple of quilts quilted before I go back to work on Monday too.

My sewing last week took backseat to reading, but sometimes you just have to read. I think I read four books in the last week so I failed miserably at Kate’s 15 minutes challenge but I made up for it over the weekend.

WIP Wednesday Update

Today I am hooking up with Jo’s Country Junction who is doing a UFO update. This quilt truly qualified as a UFO. It spent at least two years in the closet because I did not like my color selection. After getting it out and working on it some more, I have changed my mind, it has grown on me since I started working on it again.

There has not been a lot of sewing going on the last couple of days, I had a root canal on Monday and I am recovering from it. I hope to be back at the sewing machine tomorrow. I did manage to get my setting triangles cut out before going to the dentist so here is a glimpse of how it is going to look with the setting triangles.

Stash Movement! 11-13-16

Woohoo, I had movement in my stash! It happened quite by accident yesterday. I realized that I needed a couple of strippie quilts for Quilts Of Love that was happening yesterday. We had a good time at Quilts of Love and made some progress on several quilts. Three of the ladies also took their quilts to work on them at home.

After Quilts of Love was over my friend Missy came over and we loaded one of her quilts on the machine and she worked on getting it quilted. We had a great time laughing and playing while the quilt was being quilted.

Along with Quilts Of Love happening last week, I also finished all of my blocks for Cathedral Stars and I finished the binding on the Batik Wave. I forgot to finish my Friday post so I am showing it now.
