I managed to get one quilt finished this week. I was hoping for a second finish, but I did not quite make it. I cracked a tooth this week and I have been dealing with the pain associated with that. It is hard to stitch on pain meds…well at least stitch good 😉
Here is what I finished this week, I really like it.
Avignon Picnic Finally Finished
I am linking up with crazymomquilts today. Stop on over there to see some fabulous finishes!
Another Monday has roller around, how does that happen so quickly? I hope your Monday has started on a good note. On Saturday I was able to get most of the borders on Avignon Picnic. I finished them up between bouts of pressure headaches yesterday. Sorry about the cock-eyed picture, if it clears off, I will get a better one outside.
Avignon Picnic Flimsy
I am contemplating what to work on next as far as piecing. I managed to get a quilt loaded on the quilting machine and will work on that a little at a time. I hope to have it quilted and bound by the end of the month so I can join JulieK’s binding blitz.
See all of the great quilts being worked on over at Patchworktimes! You will find plenty of inspiration there to make you want to start something new. I know that I have!
Well it is all ready for borders! I had a little time during lunch yesterday so I got everything ready to sew together and got it down to three pieces left before having to go back to work. My company left yesterday evening but I was too wipe out to finish. This morning I got up and finished putting the pieces together before my DH rolled out of bed.
I got a picture after the wind stilled just a little but I had cut off the bottom of the quilt, so this will have to suffice. I do not know what to do to my picture to make the colors show up better, this was taken outside, but it was overcast. The colors are more vivid in person.
Avignon Picnic before borders
While I was cutting the white inner border, I was contemplating how people go about measuring for borders. Do you measure in three places and then take the average of those measurements, or do you do like Bonnie Hunter recommends and lay your top out on a flat surface and then lay your border down on top of that and then cut? That was how I used to do it but then my borders started turning out wavy. I am sure that I was doing something wrong like my quilt was not square to start with. I now measure to make sure that the sides are roughly the same size before I use Bonnie’s method. I am a book taught quilter so how other people do things interest me.
After fighting with WordPress last night trying to get everything to align where I wanted, I published. Well, it did not look anything like I had aligned everything. I guess I should have previewed it before I published.
So please forgive my learning mistake. I was going to try to line them up but I think I will just leave it so I can say “see how far I have come” 🙂
Just got called by my dad’s doctor’s office and his appointment for today was canceled. I figure the one for tomorrow will be canceled by my mother so they can go home.
Have a great day!
I managed to get the pictures taken today at lunch but did not have time to post the pics until now. No sewing going on in my life right now, but it will not be much longer. I am going through withdraw. My company will stay tomorrow night and then I should be back to my same ole boring life 🙂
So here are my border options, please let me know what you like. I think I am going to go with a narrow white border than a second border. I am going to post a pic without any borders to see if that looks better, but that probably will not happen until Monday. That will give me time to get the house picked up and then get back to sewing.

Wow, this took a lot longer than it should have. The new and improved WordPress would not let me set the images the way I wanted, then I made the mistake of hitting the back button. That is a big no no in WordPress, you lose your post. Fortunately I had a draft saved but it took a while for me to fine. Oh, well, live and learn.
Thanks for visiting!
I thought I was going to get to the border options today but it did not happen. I thought I would have a few minutes between when I got off work, and when my company would be here. Sadly I was mistaken but it is okay, hopefully I will get it done tomorrow.
I hope you have a blessed night and rest of the week.
Well I did not manage to get the whole quilt put together but I did manage to get half of it together. I am not sure if I am going to go with borders on this quilt or not, I will just have to audition some fabrics to see if I like them. Tomorrow, I think I will take some pictures with the border choices and see what you think.
