Design Wall Monday Er Tuesday 9-29-15

Missy was over Saturday, and in addition to finishing the quilting on her quilt, we played with border options for the Island Chain quilt. It started out with an option that my DS came up with for the border. Then it migrated to another option, which came about because Missy said the border was too heavy for the quilt and it needed some light squares dispersed.

Then (finally) my brain kicked in and this option was auditioned.

Option1

Option 1

That audition lead to this option and here-in lies my quandary.

Option 2

Option 2

So tell me, which one do you like best, option 1 or option 2? The corners are the only difference.

Have a blessed day!

Stash Report 9-27-15

Again I say wow, it is the end of September, and how did that happen? Christmas is going to be here before I know it, but I am slowly working my way to being ready.

Getting in the new house is taking longer than expected, but that gives me time to get another quilt or two through the quilted stage. I need to get some bindings sewn on and sewn down. Especially if I am going to participate in Julie’s binding blitz.

This week was spend quilting on Missy’s quilt, and I was about to say that I did not use any fabric. Then I remembered, I cut out the first border for Island Chains so I do have some outage. Yay!

There are Good Days and Then There Are Bad

Yesterday, I was working on quilting and going along good. Then I start to think this does not feel right, I should not be going that way. I convince myself that I am imagining things, but low and behold, I am at a point where I know I am going the wrong way. How in the world did that happen? I start looking and I realize that on one of the flowers, I started going backwards. My seam ripper is going to get some use after this quilt comes off of the frames 😦

On the better front, I got started on what I think are going to borders for my Island Chain quilt. I think it will turn out okay, I hope it turns out really good, time will tell.

Design Wall Monday 9/21/15

Well it took me a little longer to get this top finished but it is to the flimsy stage. It is pink and purple so it is definitely for a girl or woman.

Carpenter's Star

Carpenter’s Star

I quilted a little on Missy’s quilt. It is Cotton Candy by Judy L. done in black and batiks and it is gorgeous. I also started piecing on a Cotton Candy top for Quilts of Love.

Please see Patchworktimes for some inspiring design walls.

Thanks for visiting and happy quilting!

Stash Report Weeks 9/6/15 – 9/20/15

Good morning, it is a glorious morning here! The temps are in the low 60’s and just a hint of Fall is starting to come through. I am so ready for Fall although I do not like winter at all.

Happy accident

This is a quilt that my friend Missy made, she misread the instructions and the squares did not turn out quite as planned. Rather than throw away the whole quilt, she cut some of the squares and rearranged them. In the end she ended up with this cute quilt.

It has been three weeks since my last stash report. In that time I have quilted six baby quilts and contributed part of a backing to a queen sized quilt so my outage looks pretty good. Connecting Threads had a great sale on Batiks a few weeks ago and I was really tempted to push some buttons, but in the end, I closed the web page.

Fabric out week 9/6/15 2.50 yards, backing for 2 baby quilts
Fabric out week 9/13/15 2.57 yards, backing and binding cut for 2 baby quilts
Fabric out week 9/20/15 3.0 yards, backing for Missy’s quilt
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 91.086 yards
Fabric in ytd: 27.5 yards
Total 63.586 yards out

Happy quilting!

More Quilting Pictures

There has been quite a bit of quilting going on here in the last few weeks. I figure I have one more week before my quilt machine gets taken down and then I will be without for at least a month and possible more. All my quilting has gone on after work, I have not been getting anything done on the weekend lately. Last Saturday, we ran wires for tv and internet in the house.

Missy came over yesterday and she got a couple of rows quilted on her quilt. I hope to get Missy’s quilt off of the frames and would like to get a couple more of the bigger quilts quilted before we take the machine down. The machine resides in the living room and we need to get it moved out before trying to sell our house.

I have been at kind of a stand still on piecing because I do not have a quilt cut out. But just writing that down reminds me that there is one in my sewing room that needs to be put together, so I do have something to work on!

Here is a picture of another baby quilt that was created by someone else and has been quilted by me. It is going to be stuck back for Quilts of Love for the time when we need a baby quilt.

It’s Been a While, But Progress Has Been Made

It has been a little while. We have a family reunion over Labor Day and on Friday evening, we went to north Arkansas to attend the reunion. After the reunion on Saturday, we came back to the house, went to church on Sunday morning. We then went to Menards at  Poplar Bluff Missouri. When we got home, it was time to go back to work.

I have managed to get the Carpenter’s Star to a flimsy stage and quilt four more baby quilts. Missy now has a quilt loaded on the machine and we should start working on it Saturday. I am have a bunch of binding that needs to be finished. Here is one, I will be posting the others in another post.
