The stars have aligned this week. After not getting any sewing time at the first of the week, I made up for it at the middle and end of the week. Not only that, the sewing that was done used up a few yards of fabric. I quilted a small quilt for my mother on Wednesday, using my batting and backing. I also quilted a quilt for someone I go to church with also using my backing and batting. Between those two it added up to quite a bit, but then as I was getting ready for Quilts Of Love this morning, I realized that I did not have any kits for people. After cutting out a couple of kits, I ended up using quite a bit of fabric this week.
I am joing with Kate in keeping up with my sewing days per week. I managed to get some stitching in during the latter part of the week. 5 out of 7 days this week.

During a visit from my mother, she gave me some Grandmother’s Fan blocks that my grandmother started for me. My mom had plans to finish them, but she never did. There are quite a few of them there, but I don’t love the colors in the solid parts of the fans and the material is not the best. The colors are fairly true in this picture except the orange is more of a salmon color. Would you just finish them the way they are, or would you replace the parts that you were not crazy about?

The fan blocks from your mother & grandmother hold special memories, but if you don’t like the background fabric, now is the time to change it, before the blocks are all stitched together. If you make the background more your taste you’ll end up with a three-generation quilt that you love.

I’d probably finish them the way they are, but then I’d probably put it away as a keepsake. If you want to use it or display it, I’d probably fix them. You’ve had some great stash busting this year!
