It’s Been a While; Batik Wave

I have been piecing a little and working on getting settled into my new room. It is taking me a while to figure out where I want things to go and how I want them arranged. I am still working on the Paradise Batik Wave Quilt by Cara Wilson (top is finished now). It has been slow going because I have not been sewing much, but I have picked up the pace a little. I still have not quilted anything since before my quilt machine was taken down before the move (also recently rectified, picture coming soon). I still need to get my design wall up, but here is a picture of where I am at on my Batik Wave. Just a fair warning, the rest of this post is not quilt related.

Batik Wave

Batik Wave

A lot has happened since my last post. We moved December 24th, 2015, yep, on Christmas Eve, we moved. How is that for a Merry Christmas 🙂

Things were just starting to get settled down when a series of things happened. My dad had a doctor’s appointment January 25th, and my parents came up for that appointment and just went straight to the appointment. It was discovered that my dad was bleeding, so he was taken by ambulance to the VA hospital in LR. He ended up staying there about three to three and a half weeks. During that time, he also had three surgeries. Also during that time I got sick, with bad allergy/sinus infection that I could not shake. Between trying to  the hospital every night to check on my parents and fighting being sick, I had no energy to do anything other than work. My dad passed away on February 18th, from the effects of minimal change disease. You cannot believe how hard it still is to write that, but I know that he is in a much better place. I don’t say this to gain sympathy, I just needed to put it down in words.

Edited to add: I wrote that post two months and just could not push the button to publish. I have really been struggling with loosing my dad. I know that he is much better off, but I am not. It is getting better day by day but I still have a long way to go. Be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them. Do not take for granted that they will be there the next day or week. My dad would be getting better and they would say that he could go home in a couple of days and then he would take a turn for the worse. I am happy to say that I got to tell him that I loved him before he slipped into a coma. I hope that once I got past this post that I can start posting again and take one more step in the healing process.

I have finished at least one more top and quilted one quilt, so I should have something to post in the next few days. See Patchworktimes for more quilty content.

Happy Quilting!
