What I Am Working On 7-20-15

Fresh off of the design wall for border application is Island Chain. I do not know what I am going to do for borders yet but I would like the quilt to be bigger. Right now it is 80″ square. I do not want to distract from the design so I am pondering whether to add just yardage borders or a pieced border. What do you think?

That is it for me today. See fabulous design walls over @ Patchworktimes.

Have a Blessed day!

  1. Oh how beautiful!! I love, love, love your quilt. It’s unfortunate that you want it larger because it is so wonderful as it is. I think I’d lean more toward a solid border so it won’t detract from the gorgeous quilt.

Maybe an inner border the same fabric as the background then a pieced border with squares on point or square in a square blocks. It looks wonderful and will be fun to see what you decide.

I must admit that when I saw this in the book, I wasn’t overly keen on it. But! Now that I see your version of it, I am smitten!! Whenever I have wanted to make a quilt bigger than the pattern states, I make more blocks! If you have the time, fabric (and inclination LOL) make some more blocks. That way you would only need a narrow border in the background colour and there will be no distraction from the blocks. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be gorgeous. I am looking forward to seeing the completed quilt. Regards, Dianne

If you have enough of the background fabric I’d use that for the border. That way the interlocking chains float on the background.

    • That is a good idea! I do not know if I have enough on hand, but I might be able to get some more. Thank you for visiting, and sorry for my slow response. I have been helping with Vacation Bible School this week.

I would love to hear from you!
