Design Wall Monday 4/20/15

A little movement in my quilt room this weekend. I got a start cutting out a couple of quilts and got some more pieces cut and sewn for the Avignon Picnic. That is what I have on my design wall this week. It is barely a start and it is not turned right but I managed to get eight of the sixty-four blocks completed. I did not get as much completed as I would have liked because we had thunderstorms roll through this evening.

Fabric Happenings 4/19/15

Good morning, I hope all is going well for you. I had some quality time in the quilting room. I worked some more on cutting for Avignon Picnic and I started cutting some batiks for two different quilts. I figured while I had the fabric out and was cutting I might as well get both of them cut out. All three are quick quilts and should not be to difficult to get together.

Fabric out 8.33 yards
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 56.03yards
Fabric in ytd: 27.5 yards
Total 28.53 yards out

See Patchworktimes for additional stash reports.

Thanks for visiting and happy quilting!

Frogging, the Rest of the Story

Lori, from Dakota City Quilters, made a comment about a quilt that I started frogging in December of last year. She reminded me that I had not told the rest of the story. Sit back and get a cup/glass of your favorite beverage because this is pretty funny.

Frogging Quilting Mess

So you have heard me talk about Missy before and most of my good stories involve my good friend. Because of some things that were happening in Missy’s life at that time, her disposable income was very limited. I am always happy to share my fabric with Missy because she is my friend and that is what friends do. Well Missy decided she had to do something for me in exchange for the fabric. Well, I happened to be working on frogging that quilt. She decide she would take that quilt home and pull the stitches out. She said it would not take long because the stitches were bad, but I pointed out that not all of the stitching was bad in this quilt. Missy said it was okay, it would not take her long. Fast forward to the Saturday before last, she was telling me that she was still working off and on getting the stitching out of that quilt. I think that Missy is ready to throw the quilt out as my DH originally said needed to happen.

I think I can safely say I got the better end of that deal 🙂  Missy you are a good friend to take that horrible task on.

Keep on quilting!

Parts and Pieces Design Wall 4/13/15

I got some of the strips together for the new quilt I am making. It is called Avignon Picnic by Andrea Harris and is real quick to put together. The colors are much better in natural daylight.

I still have an over-abundance of quilts that need to be quilted but I am doing better on getting them quilted and bound. A large part of that is because my foot is better and I can stand on it long enough so I can quilt a row or two on a quilt. I am still piecing faster than I am quilting and binding.

There are many design walls over at Patchworktimes.

I hope you have a quilty week!

Fabric Happenings 4/12/15

A little late for a stash report, but oh well, life gets in the way sometimes. I finished putting in the last stitches on the binding of the Jewel quilt very late Friday night. Yesterday I started cutting out another quilt, and hopefully I will have something to show tomorrow on the design wall. If I have something cut out then during the evening while watching TV, I will feed the pieces through the machine. It is when I do not have anything cut out that progress stops. I do not know if all of the pieces that I cut will end up in this quilt, but I had some small pieces that were under 10″ so I just cut them all into strips.

Here are my numbers.

Fabric out 5.083 yards
Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 47.70 yards
Fabric in ytd: 27.5 yards
Total 20.20 yards out

See Patchworktimes for additional stash reports.

Thanks for visiting and happy quilting!

Eat, Sleep, Sew

Oh, let’s not forget go to work which takes a big bite out of my sewing time 🙂 I have been working on getting the binding on the Jewel Quilt. It is a very large queen size quilt and it seems like I am never going to get around the whole quilt, but I think I am past the half way mark. Here is the quilt before quilting, it looks quite a bit different now. I will show an updated picture when I finish binding.

I need to get busy cutting out a couple of quilts because I slow down when I do not have stuff cut out to sew. I am trying to decide which quilt to make next and I think that is part of my problem, I am undecided on what to do next.

I hope you have a quilty week!

Good morning and Happy Easter to you!

Alleluia Christ Arose!

Quilts of Love met yesterday and we had a good time yesterday working on quilts and visiting. We managed to get a strippie quilt sewn together and another one almost completed. We also got a quilt quilted, but I am sad to say that I did not get a picture of the quilt when it came off of the frame yesterday. It went home with one of the ladies to bind.

Here are my number.

Fabric in 0 yards
Fabric out ytd: 4.67 yards
